Indian company SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL) and Norwegian firm Ocean Sun have teamed up to pilot a membrane-based floating solar project in India. The collaboration aims to deploy a 2 MW pilot project using Ocean Sun’s patented technology. If successful, the project could pave the way for large-scale implementation along India’s southern coastline. Ocean Sun’s innovative technology utilizes a thin membrane to float customized PV modules, resulting in advantages such as reduced material usage, easy installation, and increased efficiency from direct water cooling. This partnership marks a significant step towards technology transfer and cooperation between the two countries.
