Town’s Fitness Community Comes Together to Make Christmas Special for Children

1 min read

The fitness community in Barrow is joining forces to support the annual Christmas toy drive. Aidan Murphy, the Operations Manager at Barrow Park Leisure Centre, has reached out to local gyms, including Nuffield Health, the Gym Group, Industry 13, and Everlast Gyms, to participate in the charity campaign. The aim is to surpass last year’s success, which benefited 400 families. The campaign will run from November 1 to November 30, with collection points set up at various venues to accept unwrapped gifts for children aged newborn to 11 years old. The gifts will be distributed through local organizations, including St. Marks Church and the Furness Resilience Forum. In addition to the toy drive, Barrow Park Leisure Centre will also serve as a winter warm hub, providing hot drinks, snacks, showers, free wifi, and board games to combat loneliness during the colder months. Donations for the toy drive can be made at the leisure centre, participating gyms, or St. Mark’s Church.
