Hey folks! GKN Automotive has just revealed their awesome new eCrate concept, and it’s got everyone buzzing. This cool addition to their eDrive portfolio comes in three different variations. You’ve got a 2-in-1 combo system with a motor and transmission, pumping out a powerful 113kW. Or, if you want something even more impressive, there’s a fully integrated 3-in-1 system with an electric machine, transmission, and inverter, available in either 113kW or a mind-blowing 185kW output.
Now, here’s the really cool part. GKN is making this ‘plug-and-play’ concept available to all those niche and low volume electric vehicle players out there, as well as the retro-conversion market. They’re calling it the eCrate, and it’s perfect for all sorts of vehicles, from cars of any size to light commercial vehicles. This thing has the potential to revolutionize the auto industry and drive electrification like never before.
Dirk Kesselgruber, the chief technology officer at GKN Automotive, couldn’t contain his excitement. He said, ‘We’ve been leading the electric revolution for the past 20 years, and now we’re taking it to the next level with the eCrate concept. It’s based on our existing technology, but it’s even better. We’re bringing high-quality and cost-effective electric drive units to more customers in a plug-and-play format. And by doing that, we’re helping to create a cleaner and more sustainable world. How cool is that?’
Believe it or not, GKN Automotive has been in the eDrive game for over two decades. They fitted their first eDrive system to a production car way back when. And get this, there are now over two million electrified vehicles worldwide powered by GKN’s eDrive technology. That’s seriously impressive!
