Patrick McCarthy, who’s 43, was busted at his place in Mount Nagle, Mallow, County Cork, with €10,900 worth of weed and €22,800 in cold, hard cash. He owned up to having the drugs for sale and admitted to laundering the cash. The judge said, ‘You saw others selling drugs and thought they didn’t have money problems. You left school early, got disability payments, and even suffered a serious assault because of this whole mess.’ But here’s the kicker – he’s got 11 kids to look after! The judge took into account that he’s been cooperating and gave him a two-year sentence with the last six months suspended. His wife, Georgina McCarthy, was in the mix too, but the charges against her were dropped. The whole thing went down in November 2020 when the cops found the drugs stashed in a paint can behind the house.
