ABP and TIPC are teaming up to work on floating offshore wind (FLOW) related port infrastructure and explore future commercial partnership prospects. The collaboration aims to support the development of offshore wind power in Taiwan and create opportunities for both countries. The agreement was signed by TIPC Vice President of Business, Shu-hui Cheng and ABP Head of Offshore Wind, Andy Reay, and witnessed by TIPC Chairman, Hsien-yi Lee and British Office Taipei Representative John Dennis.
Henrik L. Pedersen, CEO of ABP, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, highlighting the potential for the UK to become a global leader in green energy generation and create jobs and energy security through floating offshore wind technology. He emphasised the importance of international collaboration in achieving net zero emissions.
TIPC Vice President of Business, Shu-hui Cheng, discussed the upcoming phase of offshore wind power development in Taiwan, noting the increased demand for land and space in ports and the challenges associated with larger scale wind turbines. The MoU with ABP will enable TIPC to better prepare for port planning and construction in line with offshore wind power policies.
In addition to the collaboration with TIPC, ABP has been actively investing in offshore wind infrastructure. In October, ABP announced a deal to investigate an area for the development of infrastructure to support offshore wind manufacturing. Furthermore, ABP expanded its network of Zephyr air quality monitors from EarthSense, demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability and clean energy.
The partnership between ABP and TIPC signifies a significant step towards the advancement of floating offshore wind technology and the development of sustainable energy solutions. It reflects the growing global interest in renewable energy and the potential for collaboration between countries to drive positive change.
