Hey folks, check this out! The University of North Florida is doing something awesome for our veterans in Flagler County. They’re giving them Fitbit devices to help them get fit and healthy. It’s all part of a cool program called MedNexus. The aim is to boost the vets’ physical activity, help them shed some pounds, and keep them out of the hospital. Dr. Julie Merten, from UNF MedNexus, says it’s a way to give back to those who’ve served our country. The veterans in the program will have their heart rate, activity level, nutrition, sleep, and oxygen consumption checked regularly. They’ll even get a special app on their phone to track their health and receive daily emails with tips to improve. Dr. Shyam Paryani, a retired doc and UNF Health Administration faculty member, is leading the charge. If you’re a veteran in Flagler County and want in on this, there’s an info session on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at the Flagler County Government Services Building. You can also reach out to Dr. Paryani at [email protected] for more details. Let’s give our vets the support they deserve!
