Tucan’s New Adventure: A South American Delight on Belmont Street

2 min read

Tucan, the popular South American café in Rosemount, is expanding to a second location on Belmont Street. The new venue, set to open on December 6, will offer a 95% gluten-free menu with a variety of exotic dishes from countries like Brasil, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, and Argentina. The menu will feature empanadas, pabellón, soups, tacos, and a range of desserts, along with South American wines, cocktails, and their new draft lager, Tucan Cerveza, made in partnership with Fierce Beer.

The new restaurant on Belmont Street will have a capacity of 80, a significant increase from the 20-person capacity of the Rosemount café. This expansion comes after the closure of the former Kirk View premises on Belmont Street, which had been empty since July due to rising costs. The owners of Tucan, Sam, Marcia, and Adam, are excited about the expansion and the opportunity to be part of the food and drink scene on Belmont Street.

The new restaurant is expected to create up to 15 jobs in the first six months, allowing the owners to accommodate more customers and grow their business. Sam, one of the business partners, expressed his excitement about the project, stating that the size and potential of the new venue align with their expectations for business growth. He also mentioned that the interior of the new restaurant will be an upgrade from the café in Rosemount, featuring vibrant colours, plants, and music that will transport customers to South America.

In addition to the regular menu, the new restaurant will offer a pre-theatre dinner from 5pm to 7pm, with a special 10% discount for customers who show their pantomime tickets. Sam expressed his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the potential for growth and the opportunity to offer something new and fresh to the people of Aberdeen. He looks forward to accommodating more customers and growing the business to its full potential.
