Tshwane’s Epic Celebration of National Entrepreneurship Month

2 min read

guess what? The City of Tshwane is all set to celebrate National Entrepreneurship Month in a big way! They’re planning to host a super cool business seminar and a pop-up market to help small businesses get better access to the market. The event is going down in Hammanskraal at Mandela Square, and it’s going to be lit with local entrepreneurs and other important peeps, including the Small Enterprise Development Agency.

Hannes Coetzee, the MMC for Economic Development and Spatial Planning, is totally hyped about this. He’s all like, “Entrepreneurship is the bomb, man! It’s what drives economic development, creates jobs, and helps people out, especially after the whole Covid-19 thing. That mess left a lot of folks broke.”

He also mentioned this South Africa economic update edition 13 by the Word Bank, and it’s pretty eye-opening. Apparently, entrepreneurship is the key to creating jobs in South Africa. According to the analysis, if South Africa matches the self-employment rates of its peers in upper-middle-income nations, its unemployment rate might be cut in half. That’s huge, right?

So, November is officially National Entrepreneurship Month, and the City is teaming up with its peeps to throw some awesome events. Coetzee is all about it, saying, “Entrepreneurship is a big deal for Tshwane’s economic development. We’re stepping up our game with the Small Enterprise Development Agency to provide better business support services to small businesses in Tshwane. We’re setting up business support centres all over the place to help out current and future business owners.”

But wait, there’s more! The City and Start-Up Tribe are joining forces to create the Virtual Entrepreneurship Academy. It’s like a one-stop shop for Tshwane entrepreneurs, offering all kinds of courses online. They’ve got stuff on starting a business, farming, cutting costs, using digital tools, and the whole entrepreneurship journey. And get this, since the academy started in April 2023, 212 Tshwane residents have already signed up for the courses. How awesome is that?

If you’re keen on getting some business training, you can hit up the Tshwane Virtual Entrepreneurship Academy or sign up for free online courses on https://www.thestartuptribe.org/pages/tshwane. Don’t miss out on this, folks! It’s going to be epic.
