Nestlé Product Technology Center: 5 Years of Innovation and Sustainability

2 min read

did you hear about the Nestlé Product Technology Center (NPTC) in Bridgewater, New Jersey, US? It’s been five years since it opened, and they’re celebrating big time! I got the inside scoop from Rania Abou Samra, the global head of product technology and development at Nestlé Health Science. She told me all about the cool stuff they’ve been up to. According to Rania, the NPTC is all about bringing together nutrition, science, and wellness. They want to make sure that what they develop is firmly rooted in science and pushes the boundaries to improve everyone’s health. Since 2018, the NPTC has been a key player in creating new products that are based on solid scientific knowledge. They’ve been using their pilot plant capabilities to turn scientific knowledge into innovative solutions. Rania mentioned that they’ve achieved some major milestones over the past five years, like launching the Nestlé Health Science Accelerator and creating Centers of Excellence for Solid Dose and Enjoyment Forms. These milestones have helped them become a powerhouse in the nutrition industry. But it’s not just about products; it’s also about sustainability. Nestlé Health Science is all about embedding sustainability across the business. They’ve made great progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, using ingredients with minimal environmental impact, and making their packaging recyclable. The NPTC facility even achieved the Gold-level TRUE certification for zero waste performance. Looking ahead, the NPTC is focusing on specific nutrition and health research areas, like longevity and healthy aging. They’re teaming up with the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University to accelerate innovation in this area. And get this, they’re also diving into emerging trends like artificial intelligence and sustainability. It’s all about making a positive difference in the lives of patients and consumers worldwide. How cool is that?
