Revolutionary Innovations in Healthcare: GE HealthCare Showcases AI-Enabled Imaging Technology Solutions at RSNA23

GE HealthCare is gearing up to showcase an array of more than 40 innovations at the Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) 2023 Annual Meeting from Nov. 26-30 in Chicago, IL. The highlights of these innovations include several key artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled technologies within the Imaging, Ultrasound, and digital space.

The healthcare system is currently facing immense challenges, including a shortage of radiologists and rising levels of burnout among clinicians. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), the United States is expected to have a shortage of up to 41,900 radiologists by 2033. A survey conducted in 2022 found that 49% of radiologists reported feeling burned out. Additionally, the anticipated “silver tsunami” by 2030, where over 1.4 billion of the world’s population will be over 60 years old, will place additional burden on overworked radiologists.

In light of these challenges, Peter Arduini, the CEO of GE HealthCare, emphasized the company’s dedication to addressing radiology workforce challenges by delivering smart devices, streamlined disease state focus, and digital solutions. The goal is to provide data at the right place and time for clinicians, solving inefficiencies in workflow, enabling precision care, and improving patient outcomes.

The showcased innovations at the RSNA booth include technologies and solutions designed to seamlessly integrate along clinical care pathways, such as oncology, cardiology, and neurology. These innovations are aimed at delivering a more personal, precise, and human-focused approach across the care continuum.

GE HealthCare is committed to enhancing patient outcomes through AI-enabled and deep learning innovations. The company topped the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) list of AI-enabled medical devices for the second year in a row, with 58 authorizations.

The innovative solutions that will be showcased include SIGNA Champion, a brand new 1.5T scanner, and Revolution Ascend Platform. These technologies are designed to offer true patient comfort and high-performance scans, with AI-enabled workflow features to support efficiency and image quality.

In addition to its commitment to innovation, GE HealthCare has announced new grants and strategic collaborations with various institutions, including a $44 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and an exclusive distribution agreement with IONIC Health.

These collaborations and innovations demonstrate GE HealthCare’s dedication to providing integrated solutions, services, and data analytics to improve patient care. The company is committed to advancing personalized, connected, and compassionate care while simplifying the patient journey across the care pathway.
