Incredible Night Marks the 15th Anniversary of the Weetabix Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards 2023/24

The 15th anniversary of the Weetabix Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards was commemorated through a splendid awards ceremony that recognised local ‘Community’, local ‘Champions’ and ‘Culinary’ expertise. Stuart Branch, Chief People and Digital Officer for Weetabix, expressed great satisfaction with Weetabix’s sponsorship for the fourth consecutive year, underscoring the importance of sustainability in every category due to its significance to local communities, customers, and consumers.

The event featured 101 finalists and over 500 hours of volunteer judging, making it one of the most supported events since the inception of the awards.

During the awards night, Portfolio Events provided a delectable menu that showcased the best of Northamptonshire food and drink, including delicacies such as the Dovely Bakery Rose Cottage multi-seed loaf and Three Hills Brewery Heidrun Session NEIPA.

Distinguished sponsors like Booker also expressed their satisfaction with the quality of entries and the significance of supporting local companies in the industry.

Notable winners included Silverstone Distillery’s Club 80 Navy Strength London Dry Gin, which won the gold for the Artisan Local Drink of the Year, and Your Cool’s Coffee Ice Cream for the Artisan Local Product of the Year.

The event also comprised various categories such as the Booker Gastro Pub of the Year and Booker Young Chef of the Year, providing recognition to local establishments like The Tollemache Arms and young talents like Jade Walter of Rushton Hall Hotel & Spa.

In addition to acknowledging the outstanding work of local businesses, the awards also bestowed special recognition upon individuals who have made substantial contributions to the local food and drink scene, such as Rick Sharpe, The Roaming Artisan, and Phil Martin from Northampton College.

The evening was filled with excitement, with Helen Fospero as the Master of Ceremonies and a delightful atmosphere that celebrated the fantastic array of culinary talent in Northamptonshire.

The awards truly served as a testament to the thriving food and drink scene in Northamptonshire—as Mike Peters, Managing Director of Whitworth Bros Ltd, described it, it’s an event to remember that showcases the best of the region and encourages continued support for local businesses.
