The Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) is delighted to announce that our exceptional staff have been acknowledged at the prestigious Public Finance Awards 2023. This year, we are pleased to have had one individual and two teams shortlisted for their outstanding contributions, commitment, and considerable expertise in supporting the UK Armed Forces and contributing to the nation’s security and prosperity.

One of our exceptional talents, Megan Densley-Alford, was a finalist in the Public Finance Future Leader of the Year category. Joining DE&S as a Finance & Accounting apprentice in 2017, Megan’s remarkable journey led her to become a Cost Controller in Vehicle Support. She also played a key role in a newly established team within the Land Domain, focusing on providing equipment to Ukraine following the Russian invasion. Megan’s dedication and adaptability shone through as she managed the financial reporting for around 300 different Land asset and service requirements during the busiest times. Her commitment to precision and determination to achieve the lowest variance between budgeted and actual expenditure reflect her exceptional work ethic and professional integrity.

In addition to Megan’s achievements, our cost control teams in Artillery Systems (LEOC) and International Guns, Missiles and Rockets (WOC) were both shortlisted in the Central Government and National Bodies Finance Team of the Year category. These nominations are a testament to the incredible effort and dedication of the individuals within these teams, reflecting their professionalism and expertise in delivering quality products and services to the Front Line.

The Artillery Systems team, consisting of Nick Stewart, Michelle Sheppard, Dean Hancock, Alexandra Clarke, and Mushtaq Qureshi, proudly represented DE&S as finalists at the Public Finance Awards. They expressed their immense pride in reaching the finals and attributed their success to the collective effort of the wider Artillery Systems Delivery Team, acknowledging their colleagues’ professionalism and expertise as fundamental to their accomplishments.

Similarly, the IGMR cost control team nominees, including Katherine Webb, Tammy Norris, Tori Bush, Rebecca Cox, and Holly Farr, exhibited their exceptional dedication in balancing business-as-usual operations with Urgent Capability Requirements. Their support to procurements for the British Army, RAF, Joint Helicopter Command and Strategic Command, particularly in aiding Ukraine and contributing to the UK’s replenishment efforts, have been instrumental in serving the interests of national security.

The Public Finance Awards, now in their seventh year and held in London, strive to honour excellence and originality within public finance. The evening was an enjoyable and memorable experience for all the nominees, providing an opportunity to celebrate the exceptional achievements and professionalism within the public finance sector.

DE&S is truly honoured to have our outstanding individuals and teams recognised at this esteemed event. Their dedication, talent, and unwavering commitment to excellence continue to inspire and drive our collective efforts in serving the UK Armed Forces and contributing to the nation’s security. We extend our warmest congratulations to Megan Densley-Alford, the Artillery Systems team, and the IGMR cost control team for their exceptional achievements at the Public Finance Awards 2023.
