Revamp Alert: McDonald’s Big Mac Gets Major Makeover to Win Over Customers

2 min read

McDonald’s, the renowned global fast-food corporation, has recently revealed a substantial transformation of their renowned Big Mac burger. With alterations spanning from the patty cooking process to ingredient handling, the company is dedicated to offering patrons an enhanced burger experience.

The decision forms part of McDonald’s pledge to deliver the “finest burgers ever.” Chris Young, a McDonald’s senior director of global menu strategy, stressed the importance of integrating quality into their products. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he expressed, “We can do it quick, fast, and safe, but it doesn’t necessarily taste great. So, we want to incorporate quality into where we’re at.”

A significant figure in the makeover is Chef Chad Schafer, who has been exploring a new burger-flipping technique at McDonald’s test kitchen in Chicago. Describing the updated burger, Schafer emphasized the enhancements, noting that it appears “meltier” and possesses a more appealing texture. The changes have already been tested in Australia and are presently being put into effect in McDonald’s 13,460 US locations, commencing with the West Coast and Midwest. The corporation aims to have the revamped Big Mac available at all US stores by early 2024, as reported by the New York Post.

Some of the modifications include grilling six patties at a time instead of eight, to ease pressure and retain more juices. Furthermore, Big Macs will receive a generous serving of sauce, while the transition to buttery brioche buns with a thicker bottom aims to conserve heat. The distribution of sesame seeds on the buns will be more random, creating a homely aesthetic.

Additionally, measures such as removing cheese from refrigeration earlier to ensure optimal melting during cooking, rehydrating onions for added juiciness, and storing lettuce and pickles in smaller containers for increased freshness, have all been implemented as part of the overhaul.

The objective behind these changes is to provide customers with a superior and more gratifying dining experience. By addressing various elements of the burger’s preparation and ingredients, McDonald’s is striving to win back customers and reaffirm its position as a leader in the fast-food industry.

This move by McDonald’s highlights the relevance of innovation and continual improvement in meeting consumer preferences. As the company adapts to changing tastes and demands, the revamped Big Mac is poised to make a lasting impression on customers, solidifying McDonald’s reputation for quality and excellence.
