Aena Ventures, a distinguished airport management firm, has unveiled the five pioneering startups chosen to partake in its second open acceleration programme. The selected projects, including Bag ID, Copenhagen Optimization, Deusens, Hovyu, and stressfreecarrental.com, each offer innovative solutions poised to transform the aviation industry.
From a pool of 514 proposals, 46% originated from international companies representing 40 different countries. The chosen startups will now have the opportunity to develop pilot projects within the Aena ecosystem, with a budget of up to €50,000 (US$53,800) and the potential to secure a contract with the airport company worth up to €2 million (US$2.2 million).
One of the selected startups, Bag ID, originates from Norway and specializes in electronic luggage tags, offering a modern and sustainable alternative to traditional paper tags. Another successful participant, Copenhagen Optimization, hails from the city of Copenhagen and focuses on improving airport operational efficiency through data-driven solutions. Deusens, a Spanish startup, is dedicated to enhancing the traveler experience through interactive digital solutions. Hovyu, a Dutch company, offers an innovative solution for the decarbonization process in airports, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability. Lastly, the UK-based startup stressfreecarrental.com has developed a stress-free vehicle rental platform.
The chosen startups were afforded the opportunity to showcase their projects at the Aena Ventures’ ‘Welcome Week’, hosted at the accelerator’s headquarters in T2 of Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, signifying the commencement of their journey within the Aena ecosystem.
