Singtel’s Successful Trial of RedCap Technology for IoT Devices in Singapore

Singapore’s premiere telecommunications company, Singtel, has recently concluded a groundbreaking trial of RedCap technology, marking a significant achievement in the country’s progression towards embracing the next generation of 5G connectivity. According to MediaTek’s 5G RedCap Modem report, RedCap is anticipated to reduce power consumption for end users and chipset printed circuit board (PCB) area by a remarkable 60% in comparison to current 4G IoT devices. Furthermore, Ericsson’s research has revealed that RedCap is projected to decrease production costs for IoT device manufacturers by 50% to 70%.

The company’s 5G standalone coverage spans over 1,600 outdoor locations and 800 buildings, solidifying its position as an industry leader in 5G network performance and user experience. Singtel has consistently been recognised for its outstanding 5G network performance, receiving prestigious awards for 5G Game Experience, 5G Video Experience, and Best 5G Coverage Experience.
