The recent appointment of UNLIMITED and Pablo as the principal creative and strategic agency partner for the Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology (DSIT) by the UK government follows a rigorous competition within the Government framework.

The future prosperity of the United Kingdom hinges on the advancement of science, innovation, and technology to stimulate its economy, create high-quality employment opportunities, and yield positive societal impacts, such as improved healthcare and environmental protections. It is worth noting that the tech sector has already burgeoned into a trillion-dollar industry, with the UK boasting over 85,000 start-ups and scale-ups.

UNLIMITED’s primary role will involve spearheading campaign strategy and creative elements to support DSIT’s ambitious vision of elevating the UK into one of the foremost innovative economies worldwide and cementing its status as a Science and Technology Superpower by 2030, in line with its Science and Technology Framework. The breadth of their work will encompass an array of areas, spanning from brand campaigns to web design.

Anticipated campaigns are expected to be both groundbreaking and original, disseminated across domestic and international platforms through a blend of advertising and low- and no-cost activities.

DSIT, a recently established government department in February 2023, consolidates the pertinent components of the former Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the former Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport (DCMS). Its primary mission is to position the UK at the vanguard of global scientific and technological advancements, drive innovations that significantly impact people’s lives and sustain economic growth, and implement programmes, infrastructure, and regulations to fortify the UK’s economy, security, and public services.

The contract, spanning up to four years, will entrust UNLIMITED’s integrated agency, TMW Unlimited, with the lead on integrated marketing, while Nelson Bostock Unlimited will offer expertise in PR and tech communication.

Furthermore, UNLIMITED’s Human Understanding Lab, comprising behavioral, data, and neuroscientists, will generate crucial insights and strategic innovation to shape campaign strategy.

This recent selection marks another milestone for UNLIMITED & Pablo, following their inclusion in the Government roster in 2021, collaborating with other government entities such as The Cabinet Office, HMRC, NS&I, the Ministry of Defence, the ONS and Historic England.

Regarding the partnership, Tim Bonnet, President of UNLIMITED, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Innovation is embedded in our country’s DNA: from Alan Turing to Tim Berners-Lee. Who wouldn’t want to partner with the UK’s most significant new government department in driving our reputation as a science, innovation, and technology superpower? The AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park has certainly set the tone.”

This collaboration signifies a promising stride towards propelling the UK’s scientific and technological landscape into a realm of boundless possibilities.
