Hinckley & Rugby Building Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Barry Carter as its new CEO, succeeding Colin Fyfe. Effective from the 2nd of January 2024, Carter will assume the leadership role, having previously served as the Society’s chief operating officer since July 2022.
Bringing with him over 21 years of experience in financial services, Barry Carter possesses a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will greatly benefit his new position. Prior to his tenure at Hinckley & Rugby, he held the role of COO at HSBC Private Bank. Carter is a chartered certified accountant, chartered banker, and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.
The outgoing CEO, Colin Fyfe, will be transitioning to the role of CEO at Unity Trust Bank in 2024. The board chair, Colin Franklin, expressed gratitude towards Fyfe for his contributions and achievements during his tenure, as well as the smooth transition of leadership to Carter. Franklin also commended Carter’s effective leadership and dedication to the Society and its members.
In response to his appointment, Barry Carter articulated his vision of leading a customer-centric organization and driving growth and efficiency within the Society. He emphasized his strong desire to elevate the Society to new heights and contribute to its prosperous future. Carter’s close partnership with Colin Fyfe over the last eighteen months has provided him with a deep understanding of the Society’s ethos and a foundation for a seamless transition into his new role.
Reflecting on his time at Hinckley & Rugby, Colin Fyfe expressed satisfaction in making a significant impact during his five-year tenure. He acknowledged that his plan was always to hand over the reins to someone who could take the Society to the next level, and he is confident that Barry Carter is the right person to lead the way.
