Green Technologies Make a Big Impact in Preventing Carbon Emissions in Garabagh and East Zangezur

Green technologies have had a significant impact on the reduction of carbon emissions in the Garabagh and East Zangezur regions. According to reports, an impressive 210,000 tonnes of carbon emissions are being prevented annually as a result of the implementation of sustainable technologies.

During a meeting of the working group on environmental issues, Jabrayil Aliyev, the head of the project management department at the state agency for renewable energy sources within the Ministry of Energy, shared this information. Aliyev highlighted the crucial role played by the installation and operation of 165 megawatt hydropower plants in the liberated territories, which have contributed to preventing approximately 208,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

Additionally, the use of solar panels on various public administrative buildings, schools, kindergartens, and private residences in the liberated areas has further contributed to the substantial reduction of carbon emissions. With a total installed capacity of 2 megawatts, these solar panels have prevented around 2,000 tonnes of carbon emissions from being released into the atmosphere annually. Notable installations include school buildings in the cities of Fuzuli and Lachin, as well as private houses in the village of Zabux in Lachin.

The significant impact of these green technologies is evident, with a total of 210,000 tonnes of carbon emissions being avoided on a yearly basis. This achievement represents a commendable step towards promoting sustainability in the region.
