Readers’ Picks: Best Farm Shops and Cafes in Kent

This week, the top three finalists for the inaugural Kent & Medway Food and Drink Awards are set to be announced. Following the revelation of the finalists for Restaurant of the Year and Hotel of the Year, it is now time to unveil the venues that have been selected as the county’s best farm shops and tearooms by readers of KentOnline.

Sponsored by Café Nucleus and presented by the KM Group, the awards aim to recognise the dedication of restaurateurs, chefs, small business owners, and volunteers throughout Kent and Medway. The finalists for Pub of the Year and Hospitality Champion will also be disclosed soon, so we encourage you to stay tuned to find out if any of your nominations have made it to the top spots.

Among the finalists for Farm Shop/Deli of the Year are Brambledown Farm Shop in Sheppey, renowned for its locally sourced fresh fruit and vegetable produce, as well as Macknade in Faversham, which offers an excellent selection of food and drink sold by knowledgeable and pleasant staff. Perry Court Farm in Ashford is also in contention, celebrated for its relaxed atmosphere and its popularity as a destination for both farm and customer dogs.

In the Tearoom/Coffee Shop of the Year category, Bethany’s Cafe in Westgate has been nominated for its welcoming and friendly atmosphere, along with its community-focused events. Coffee Corner in Ashford is also a finalist, commended for its polite and friendly staff who consistently go the extra mile for their customers. Additionally, Heart of Higham in Gravesend has secured a place in the top three, with customers noting the café’s role in uniting the village community.

With the announcement of more categories’ finalists scheduled throughout the week, food enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating to see if their favourite spots have a chance of winning at the first ever Kent & Medway Food & Drink Awards.
