Since the inception of the Heat Training Grant, Options Skills has efficiently provided training to over 700 skilled gas engineers in air-source and ground-source heat pumps. This has enabled individuals to enhance their skills and knowledge in the installation and upkeep of these technologies.
The government-funded initiative was implemented to equip 6,000 qualified heat pump installers in England, with a £5 million grant being allocated to enable experienced gas engineers to undergo heat pump training, providing each individual with £500 towards the costs incurred.
Options Skills, a highly regarded accredited training provider offering specialised courses in gas, electrics, and renewables, was chosen as a preferred training provider for the programme. With a decade of experience, they offer training in the North West, West Midlands, and South East regions.
Since the grant was introduced in July 2023, Options Skills has successfully provided training to 743 individuals, making significant progress towards the 6,000 target.
As a part of the UK Government’s commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050, it is crucial to train more professionals in the installation and maintenance of energy efficiency measures such as insulation and low-carbon technologies. The inclusion of heat pumps as a heating source in homes is a critical element in meeting this target.
Providing the existing workforce with access to cost-effective and high-quality training is paramount. The course offered by Options Skills is delivered by experienced instructors who have been trained to high industry standards and possess relevant industry experience themselves.
Moreover, the course is accredited by LCL Awards, a leading certification body in the Building Services Engineering (BSE) sector. Accreditation by the esteemed United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) ensures that trainees receive rigorous instruction that adheres to industry standards.
