The GrainMate device, conceived in 2018, is specifically tailored to meet the needs of farmers, aggregators, and feed producers in the grain value chain. By offering a cost-effective and user-friendly method of measuring moisture content in grains, the device empowers farmers to make informed decisions concerning storage, feed preparation, and processing. Consequently, this contributes to the reduction of post-harvest losses, thereby enhancing food security in the region.
Sesi’s dedication to ensuring widespread accessibility to the technology is evident in the pricing of the GrainMate. Unlike imported moisture meter brands, Sesi Technologies’ product is more affordable, with models designed for both regular grains and high-value commodities such as shea nuts.
The entrepreneurial journey has not been without its obstacles. Sesi revealed that the company initially encountered challenges in securing funding, ultimately relying on a pre-order from an international non-profit to initiate production. Nonetheless, through perseverance and a strategic business approach, the company has achieved substantial progress, with over 5,000 farmers having already benefited from the innovative technology.
In addition to the positive impact on farmers, Sesi Technologies has received recognition for its contributions to the agricultural landscape. The company was honoured with the prestigious GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize in 2019, underscoring their dedication and innovation in driving positive change within the agribusiness sector.
Looking to the future, Sesi is focused on the company’s growth and expansion. He envisions establishing a local manufacturing facility to scale up production and generate employment opportunities for skilled engineers in the region.
