The Importance of Technology in Tackling Corruption and Empowering Youth: Insights from CM Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently underscored the pivotal role of technology in combating corruption and empowering the youth. He emphasized the significance of equipping the younger generation with the essential tools to tackle contemporary challenges. Speaking at a ceremony for the distribution of smartphones and tablets at Deeksha Bhawan of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, CM Yogi stressed the imperative for transparent implementation of schemes, asserting that technology serves as the most effective tool in the fight against corruption.

The provision of smartphones and tablets to two crore youth by the state government aims to enhance the capabilities, competence, and self-reliance of the younger population. During the event, approximately 1,000 students from universities and colleges were provided with smartphones, with CM Yogi personally presenting devices to 15 students. He further expounded on the transformative role of educational institutions, beyond the conferment of degrees, particularly in light of the National Education Policy introduced by Prime Minister Modi. According to the Chief Minister, institutions should foster self-reliance and self-sufficiency among students, in addition to imparting traditional knowledge.

CM Yogi also emphasized the importance of technology in improving the public distribution system in Uttar Pradesh. He recounted how the system was plagued by corruption before 2017, resulting in dire consequences such as hunger and ration shortages in various districts. However, the implementation of technological solutions such as connecting ration shops to point of sale and linking ration cards to Aadhaar significantly improved the public distribution system in the state, making it the best in the country. Furthermore, the distribution of smartphones by the government enables the youth to access information on a variety of government schemes, thereby empowering them to explore avenues of self-reliance.

The Chief Minister also encouraged higher education institutions in Uttar Pradesh to conduct social impact studies, similar to those undertaken before major industrial establishments. He envisioned economic opportunities for youths and recommended collaboration between educational institutions and industries through programs such as the CM Internship Scheme, which offers honorarium opportunities for students. Additionally, CM Yogi stressed the need for skill development to prepare the youth for global opportunities, citing examples of individuals from Uttar Pradesh working in countries like Israel, earning substantial salaries and receiving additional benefits.

Beyond addressing the importance of technology and education, CM Yogi also spoke about infrastructure development in Ayodhya, justifying investments in wide roads for crowd management during large events. He called upon the youth to follow PM Modi’s ‘Panch Pran’ (Five Pledges) for India’s development, and interacted with students during the smartphone distribution, offering words of encouragement and support. The event also saw the participation of other prominent figures, including Vice Chancellor Prof Poonam Tandon, MP Ravikishan Shukla, District Panchayat President Sadhna Singh, and Mayor Dr Mangalesh Srivastava.

In conclusion, CM Yogi’s remarks shed light on the integral role of technology in addressing corruption, enhancing education, and empowering the youth in Uttar Pradesh. His insights and recommendations point towards a concerted effort to equip the younger generation with the necessary tools for success and self-reliance.
