What Snacks and Drinks are Not Allowed in Vue, Odeon, and Cineworld Cinemas?

3 min read

With award season in full swing, there is a widespread desire to visit the cinema and view the latest movie releases. Whether it is a romantic comedy, a critically acclaimed drama, or the newest superhero film, there is something to appeal to everyone at the movies. And let us not overlook the children as well.

Going to the cinema, or the pictures as it is sometimes known, is a long-standing British tradition that shows no signs of fading, despite the growing popularity of streaming services. Whether attending with friends, family, or alone, a trip to the cinema offers the ultimate form of escapism for a couple of hours.

However, with ticket and concession prices seemingly on the rise, it is becoming increasingly challenging to afford regular visits to the cinema. A large Ice Blast to go with your movie? You may need to consider taking out a bank loan for that.

This is why many moviegoers choose to bring their own snacks and drinks to enjoy during a film. However, it is important to note that some cinemas have strict rules regarding this. Let’s take a closer look.

Vue
At Vue cinemas, guests are prohibited from bringing in any hot food or alcoholic beverages. However, they are permitted to bring in their own cold snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.

Odeon
Similar to Vue, Odeon cinemas do not allow heated food, strongly odorous food, or alcoholic beverages. Additionally, the Odeon Islington Luxe & Dine location in London does not permit outside food to be brought in.

Cineworld
Cineworld enforces a strict policy against bringing in hot food or alcohol from external sources. They maintain the right to refuse entry to any patrons attempting to bring in hot food or alcohol from outside the premises.

Showcase
Showcase cinemas, which only has 17 locations in the UK, also have regulations against bringing in hot food, alcohol, and drinks in glass containers.

Everyman
Everyman cinemas have a complete prohibition on bringing in external snacks and beverages. Only food and drink purchased within the cinema are allowed to be taken into the screening rooms.

It is evident that bringing your own snacks and drinks to the cinema is a contentious issue.
