The Fraser-Cascade School District 78 is currently in search of a new director of finance, according to a recent report presented to the school board. The district has actively sought potential candidates for the position, which has been publicly advertised for the past two weeks. The application process for the role officially closed on Friday, January 19th.

The director of finance, who will report directly to the district’s secretary-treasurer, will have the responsibility of overseeing various financial tasks at the district level. These tasks include managing accounts payable and receivable, overseeing payroll, and creating financial reports.

Regarding other school board-related matters, the board has given tentative approval to the proposed 2024-2025 school calendar. Stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback on the calendar, with comments being accepted until Valentine’s Day (February 14th). A brief two-question virtual form is available on the school district’s official website for interested individuals to share their thoughts.

Furthermore, the board has taken a significant step by passing the first reading of the revised 2023-2024 budget.

The next SD78 school board meeting is scheduled for 20th February at 7 p.m. The meeting will be conducted via Zoom, and all relevant details, including the Zoom address, can be found on the agenda for each meeting. For more comprehensive information about the upcoming meeting or any other school board-related inquiries, individuals are encouraged to visit the school district’s official website at sd78.bc.ca.
