The Importance of Technology in Tackling Corruption: Insights from Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasized the crucial role of technology in ensuring the transparent implementation of government initiatives as a means to combat corruption.

Addressing a smartphones and tablets distribution ceremony held under the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme at Deeksha Bhawan of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, CM Yogi highlighted the significance of utilizing technology to equip the youth with the necessary tools to address contemporary challenges. He expressed the government’s commitment to empowering the youth by providing them with smartphones and tablets to foster their capability, competence, and self-reliance.

The event witnessed the distribution of smartphones to around 1,000 students from universities and colleges, with CM Yogi personally handing over smartphones to 15 students. During his address, the Chief Minister cited practical examples to explain the pivotal role of technology in combating corruption and streamlining public service delivery.

Providing insights into the transformative impact of technology, CM Yogi shared the state’s success story in reforming the public distribution system. He recounted the rampant corruption that plagued the system before 2017, which led to dire consequences such as hunger and ration shortages in several districts. However, through the integration of technology, including the introduction of electronic point of sale systems and Aadhaar-linked ration cards, the state has achieved significant progress in curbing corrupt practices and establishing an efficient public distribution system.

Moreover, CM Yogi emphasized the paradigm shift in the role of educational institutions, wherein the focus has expanded beyond traditional knowledge impartation to nurturing self-reliance and self-sufficiency among students. Highlighting the implementation of the National Education Policy, he stressed the need for educational institutions to equip students with the knowledge of government schemes and programs, thus enabling them to explore avenues of self-employment and self-reliance.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister called for higher education institutions to conduct social impact studies, which could potentially create employment opportunities for the youth. He also urged students to proactively engage in skill development initiatives, thereby preparing themselves for global opportunities and economic benefits, similar to the examples of other countries that have witnessed significant demand for Indian human resources during their reconstruction phase.

CM Yogi also rationalized the necessity for infrastructure investments in cities like Ayodhya, citing the need for wide roads to facilitate convenience and manage large crowds during public events. Drawing parallels with the success of wide roads in ensuring crowd management during the Khichdi fair at the Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur, he highlighted the instrumental role of infrastructure development in supporting public activities.
