CRP Technology, a prominent leader in the field of 3D printing, has recently unveiled the release of Windform SL (super lightweight), the newest addition to its collection of advanced materials. Specifically engineered for PBF/SLS, this black ultra-light polyamide-based composite is strengthened with carbon fibers, providing exceptional lightweight properties with a low density of 0.87 g/cc.
The launch of Windform SL closely follows the introduction of Windform TPU, the eleventh addition to CRP Technology’s TOP-LINE range, demonstrating the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation within the 3D printing sector. Franco Cevolini, CEO and Technical Director of CRP Technology, has expressed confidence in Windform SL as the material of choice for UAV and automotive clients, highlighting its suitability for the production of functional prototypes and components in the UAV/UAS sector and other industries where a balance of lightness, stiffness, and thermal resistance is essential.
With a heat deflection temperature at 1.82 MPa of 182.5 °C, Windform SL boasts high values of Specific Tensile Modulus, Specific Tensile Strength, and Impact Strength, ensuring structural stability under intense stress, even at elevated temperatures. Additionally, the post-process surface finish is exceptional, with Ra values of 5.44 µm after the SLS process, 1.56 µm after manual finishing, and 0.83 µm after CNC processing.
Windform SL is positioned to revolutionize professional 3D printing, offering a wide range of potential applications in the UAV sector and beyond. It is anticipated to transform the production of sophisticated and efficient components across various industries, from aerospace to automotive, promising lightweight solutions without compromising on thickness.
