The University of Technology and Applied Sciences marked a momentous occasion on February 15th with the launch of its inaugural book, entitled “Strategies for Business Transformation- Accelerators for Sustainable Growth”. The distinguished event took place under the esteemed patronage of His Excellency Dr. Said bin Hamad Al- Rubaie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences. Also in attendance were Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Shahri, Assistant Vice Chancellor at the university branch in Salalah, and Dr. Nasser bin Salem Al-Bimani, Assistant Vice Chancellor at the university branch in Al-Mussanah, alongside various other notable guests.
Dr. Nasser bin Salem Al-Bimani, during the ceremony, delivered a welcoming speech, in which he lauded the university for its remarkable contributions to scientific research and other pivotal areas. Furthermore, Dr. Aziza bint Abdullah Al-Qamshouai, Head of the Business Studies Department at the university branch in Al-Mussanah, provided an in-depth overview of the book and outlined significant forthcoming research projects.
The book is aligned with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040, which places a strong emphasis on cultivating a sustainable national economy and establishing robust, effective systems. Given the constantly evolving business landscape, institutions must adapt and transform, ensuring a balance between economic, environmental, and social needs, as outlined in Oman Vision 2040’s sustainable development principles.
Notably, this edition has been issued with an international standard number registered under the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, marking it as the first registered edition as intellectual property under the university’s name. The book includes digital identifiers for easy access and proper documentation for impact assessment. These features are expected to enhance the university’s academic and research capabilities, build scientific capacities in research, and foster cooperation with researchers and the industrial community.
Comprising fifteen chapters covering various fields such as accounting, human resource management, digital marketing, and industrial sustainability, the book boasts a total of 29 contributors, including nine Omani authors and 20 international contributors.
His Excellency Dr. Said bin Hamad Al- Rubaie, the first editor of the book, underlined the importance of creating a conducive environment for collaborative scientific and knowledge research. Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Shahri, the second editor, expressed hope that the book’s launch would inspire researchers and students at the university to publish more distinguished scientific content, thereby enhancing national research capabilities.
Dr. Aziza bint Abdullah Al-Qamshouai, the third editor, emphasized the significance of encouraging university affiliates to register various intellectual properties and protect them with appropriate tools such as copyrights and utility models to foster scientific publishing and innovation. Furthermore, plans for future research projects, including a conference on artificial intelligence and business development, as well as the publication of specialized scientific books in collaboration with international institutions, were revealed.
The University of Technology and Applied Sciences’ inaugural book stands as a significant achievement, reflecting the institution’s commitment to scholarly endeavors and its contribution to Oman Vision 2040. It sets the stage for further advancements in academic research and the publication of impactful, high-quality content.
