King’s College London Celebrates Success of Young Entrepreneurs

The esteemed research organization Huron has recently released a list featuring the top young entrepreneurs, and to the delight of many, six founders from King’s College have made the cut. This recognition solidifies the university’s standing as a hotbed for budding entrepreneurs, providing them with the necessary support and guidance to thrive in the business world.

Among the notable individuals included in the list is Harry Stebbings, who has achieved great success in the world of venture capital. After obtaining a degree in Law, Stebbings ventured into the world of podcasting and went on to co-found Stride VC, a seed fund, in 2018. His continued dedication led to the establishment of his own venture capital fund, further cementing his status as a trailblazer in the industry.

Another remarkable inclusion is Dr. Megan Rossi, a distinguished gut health and nutrition expert within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine. Popularly known as the ‘Gut Doctor’, Rossi has made significant strides with her food brand Bio&Me, which offers a range of healthy porridge and granolas. Notably, the brand has attracted investments from prominent figures, including England football captain Harry Kane, amounting to an impressive £3m.

Josephine Philips, a Philosophy & Physics graduate and the brains behind the innovative Sojo clothing repair app, also secured a well-deserved spot in the under 30s category. Her app, which received backing from King’s own accelerator housed at the Entrepreneurship Institute, has demonstrated the university’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial talents. Additionally, Mathias Krieger and Murvah Iqbal, both King’s alumni, made their mark with the eco-friendly delivery firm Hived, which amassed an impressive £10m in investment.

The criteria for inclusion in the list was rigorous, requiring entrepreneurs under 30 to have founded or co-founded a company with an estimated worth of around US$10m. As for the Under35s list, entrants had to have built a business with a value of approximately US$50m, further exemplifying the remarkable achievements of the featured individuals.

Julie Devonshire OBE, Director of the Entrepreneurship Institute, expressed her immense pride in the university’s entrepreneurial achievements, stating, “Entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial mindsets are at the heart of everything we do at King’s, to support our innovation ecosystem. It’s fabulous to see King’s listed as the 5th leading university in the UK for start-ups, and so impressive to see the range of issues the six King’s entrepreneurs are addressing with their individual ideas. We continue to wish them lots of luck on their entrepreneurial journeys!”

The recognition of these exceptional young entrepreneurs is a testament to King’s College London’s unwavering commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. With a supportive environment and dedicated resources, King’s has proven to be a nurturing ground for young visionaries, empowering them to make a significant impact in the ever-evolving business landscape.
