Notably, the company’s innovative approach requires lower energy requirements and infrastructure investments compared to alternative methods. In essence, the company is focused on the creation of scalable, direct air capture (DAC) systems that utilize low-carbon intensity energy to effectively remove and durably sequester CO2 from the atmosphere, with the ultimate aim of removing billions of tons of CO2.
To validate the effectiveness of this groundbreaking technology, Clairity Technology collaborated with CarbonBuilt, a company specialising in technology that utilises atmospheric CO2 for the production of ultra-low carbon concrete products, resulting in a remarkable reduction of embodied carbon by 70-100%. As part of this collaboration, the two companies successfully completed a demonstration project in which Clairity’s process captured CO2 and transferred it directly into CarbonBuilt’s process. Here, it chemically reacted with CarbonBuilt’s low-carbon binder, an environmentally friendly alternative to high-carbon cement, effectively and permanently sequestering the CO2 in the finished concrete block.
