Supporting Entrepreneurs: EGA Ramp-Up Season Two Launches to Empower UAE Innovators

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) is pleased to announce the launch of the second season of EGA Ramp-Up, a programme aimed at cultivating the next generation of entrepreneurs in the UAE. This initiative, supported by the UAE Ministry of Economy, provides practical guidance to entrepreneurs who are establishing businesses that drive economic growth and contribute to sustainability, new technology, human capital development, and social advancement.

Entrepreneurship is a top priority in the UAE and a crucial component of the 2071 Centennial Plan. The Entrepreneurial Nation Strategy 2031 aims to position the country as a global hub for entrepreneurship.

During the first season of EGA Ramp-Up, hundreds of aspiring entrepreneurs participated, and eight innovative startups were selected to take part in the Investor Pitch Day at EGA’s headquarters in Al Taweelah. In addition to mentorship and funding opportunities, EGA is also seeking to engage participants in EGA Ramp-Up as potential suppliers to further enhance local procurement and support the growth of local businesses. Last month, EGA announced a partnership with EGA Ramp-Up 2023 finalist Nadeera to introduce an innovative recycling solution in communities near the company’s Jebel Ali plant.

EGA has partnered with C3, a UAE-based social enterprise, to deliver EGA Ramp-Up. C3 supports entrepreneurs across the region in unlocking their growth potential and maximizing their positive impact on the community and the environment.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Global Aluminium, emphasized that EGA can contribute to the UAE’s economic diversification and development beyond its commercial success. He expressed his anticipation of witnessing the innovative ideas from this year’s entrepreneurs and supporting them in turning their visions into reality.

Kevin Holliday, Managing Director of C3 – Companies Creating Change, commended the success of the inaugural season and expressed excitement about the launch of the next round of EGA Ramp-Up. He highlighted the significant role that major companies can play in promoting entrepreneurship, which is crucial to the UAE’s economic future.

EGA will be collaborating with Autodesk, a leading design and make software provider, to power season two of EGA Ramp-Up. Autodesk will provide software grants for eligible startups, along with training services from technology experts.

Aspiring entrepreneurs and established founders are encouraged to apply for EGA Ramp-Up season two, with applications open until 28 April 2024. To learn more about the programme and submit an application, visit www.ega.ae/en/ramp-up.
