A Potential Game Changer for the UK Financial Advice Industry

During a recent panel discussion at the Association of British Insurers (ABI) Annual Conference, Alistair McQueen, Aviva’s head of savings and retirement, articulated his belief that the proposed targeted support for the financial advice industry could represent a significant turning point.

McQueen underscored the importance of the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) Advice Guidance Boundary Review (AGBR) policy paper, which aims to address the necessity of sufficient savings and empowering individuals to take charge of their finances. McQueen echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the necessity of face-to-face interaction in financial advice, despite the current low engagement rate. He identified the proposed reforms as a positive bridge that could assist the majority of individuals who are apprehensive about seeking full financial advice, illustrating the potential of these measures to bring about positive change in the industry.
