Total Fitness Health Clubs Ltd has recorded an 8% increase in revenues for the year ending December 31, 2015, attributed to a rise in member sales and retention. The gym chain, operating 17 leisure clubs in the north of England and north Wales, witnessed a surge in revenues to £33.77m from £31.31m in 2014, as evidenced by its most recent financial accounts.
In addition to the revenue growth, the earnings before tax, depreciation, and amortisation also rose by 19% to £5m in 2015, up from £4.2m in 2014. This achievement has been linked to a 9% increase in membership to over 90,000, driven by new member sales and enhanced retention levels. The chain has also enjoyed success in other revenue streams, notably its collaboration with Olympic stars Becky Adlington and Beth Tweddle, who offer children’s swimming and gymnastics lessons respectively.
The business’s expansion was further bolstered by a management buy-out in March 2015, with investments from NorthEdge Capital, RooGreen Ventures, and the management team. The company has also been focusing on investing in its facilities and health and fitness products, with a particular emphasis on creating a fitness environment suitable for all ages and needs, resulting in improved member retention.
Richard Millman, the chief executive of Total Fitness, expressed his contentment with the company’s growth, attributing it to the hard work and dedication of their staff. He underscored the company’s strategic plan to position itself as the premier health club for consumers and families in the north, setting it apart from competitors in the market.
Ray Stenton, partner at NorthEdge and non-executive director at Total Fitness, also lauded the progress made since their partnership in 2015, emphasizing the commitment to maintaining high standards and enhancing offerings for members, with plans to target new clubs across the north of England and Wales in the upcoming year.
Total Fitness’ success has been exceptional, with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction and membership growth leading to increased revenues. The company’s dedication to providing a superior fitness experience for individuals and families in the north has been crucial in propelling their growth and success. With continued investments and strategic planning, Total Fitness is well-positioned to sustain its upward trajectory in the health and fitness industry.
