# Calling All African Entrepreneurs! Join the ABH Prize Competition 2024 for a Chance to Win $1.5M

Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Prize Competition is set to commence its sixth edition, seeking to identify and celebrate 10 exceptional entrepreneurs who are positively impacting their respective communities. Since its establishment in 2019, ABH has been devoted to showcasing and bolstering some of Africa’s most outstanding entrepreneurial talents.

Throughout the past five years, the top 10 finalists, also known as Heroes, of the ABH Prize Competition have made notable contributions to the African business landscape. Together, they have created 123,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, served over 37.5 million customers, raised in excess of US$153 million in funding, and operated in 52 African nations.

As ABH enters its sixth year, it is extending an open invitation to entrepreneurs from all 54 African countries, spanning various business sectors, age groups, and genders, to apply for the competition. The primary objective is to furnish participants with valuable benefits such as training, exposure, networking opportunities, and the chance to compete for a portion of the US$1.5 million grant fund.

Zahra Baitie, Head of Partnerships & Programs at Africa’s Business Heroes, has underscored the competition’s impact on the growth of past winners. She has emphasized how the grant funds have been utilized to scale businesses, recruit talent, and invest in new products and services. Baitie has also highlighted the collaborative nature of the ABH network and reiterated the organization’s commitment to fostering the African entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The ABH Prize Competition has attracted the participation of close to 100,000 entrepreneurs thus far, with last year’s winners chosen from a pool of 27,267 applicants representing diverse sectors like agriculture, education, energy, healthcare, and manufacturing. The competition culminated in the Grand Finale, where the top 10 finalists presented their businesses to a panel of distinguished judges on Africa’s largest augmented reality-powered stage.

To further support entrepreneurs in advancing their ventures, ABH will continue to grant access to a community of business leaders, industry experts, and investors, alongside multidisciplinary boot camps and training sessions. Additionally, the organization will conduct a series of roadshows in multiple countries, in collaboration with local entrepreneur organizations and community members, to facilitate engagement and applications.

Entrepreneurs interested in participating in the ABH Prize Competition 2024 have until May 19, 2024, to submit their applications. The top 50 finalists will be revealed in July, followed by the announcement of the top 10 in September and the ultimate winners at the Grand Finale in November. Interested parties can visit the official ABH website for further details and to submit their applications for ABH 2024.

The ABH Prize Competition 2024 presents an exciting opportunity for African entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative concepts, engage with industry experts, and contend for significant grant funding to further their impact in the business sphere. This platform offers entrepreneurs the chance to gain recognition, support, and resources to drive positive change in their communities and beyond.
