Empowering Creative Minds: St Philomena College Hosts Workshop on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Startups

St Philomena College recently hosted an engaging workshop on ‘Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Startups,’ in partnership with the Pinnacle IT Club and the IICs, department of computer science. The event took place on March 4 at the Spandana Seminar Hall and featured a lineup of esteemed speakers and experts in the field.

Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, the principal of the college, presided over the inaugural programme. Dr Monteiro emphasized that start-ups are not merely businesses, but rather manifestations of creativity and innovative thinking. He underscored the importance of nurturing small ideas and developing them into groundbreaking ventures, encouraging students to consider entrepreneurship as a means to pursue their passions and create employment opportunities for others.

A significant highlight of the event was the enlightening session delivered by Madhuranath R, head of the marketing department at Slang Lab in Bengaluru. He shed light on the significance of start-ups as solutions to existing societal challenges and emphasized the need for collaborative efforts in their establishment. Throughout the workshop, Mr. Madhuranath R provided a comprehensive overview of the start-up initiation process, delved into the common challenges faced, discussed strategies for resource mobilization, and outlined the various avenues for accessing government assistance in this domain.

The workshop commenced with a warm welcome extended by Vinayachandra, dean and head of the computer science department. Soumya, the IT club coordinator, expressed gratitude to all the participants and attendees, acknowledging their invaluable contribution to the success of the event. The programme was effectively facilitated by Geeta Poornima, President of St Philomena College Institution’s Innovation Council, adding a touch of professionalism and cordiality to the proceedings.

In essence, the workshop provided a platform for students and aspiring entrepreneurs to gain practical insights into the world of innovation and start-ups, while emphasizing the role of entrepreneurship in addressing contemporary societal issues.
