Young Entrepreneur Breaks Ground with Custom Odorless Socks Business

Matthew Tesvich, a 23-year-old student at the University of Georgia, has distinguished himself through the establishment of a unique business venture centered around the production of odourless socks. His enterprise, Ox Sox, was conceived from a necessity to address a persistent issue.

In his capacity as a baseball player, Tesvich grappled with malodorous feet following games, prompting him to contemplate the development of a remedy. Recognising the potential of an antibacterial composite to counteract odour-inducing bacteria, he pursued the concept with diligence. Following more than a hundred deliberations with manufacturers, Ox Sox came to fruition. These socks, constructed from a combination of cotton and nylon, are accompanied by a ‘stink-free’ guarantee.

In light of the surge in e-commerce amid the pandemic, Tesvich discerned an opportunity to introduce his business, which has since garnered favour among consumers. He attributes his triumph to assiduousness and discipline, opting to dedicate Friday nights to operating his computer and serving clientele instead of engaging in social activities.

Tesvich accredits the Small Business Development Center and UGA’s Entrepreneurship Program for their assistance in materialising his concept. Megan Henning, the program manager, extols Tesvich for his commitment and pioneering product. She lauds Ox Sox as a genuinely effective product that embodies the ethos of the Entrepreneurship Program.

Looking towards the future, Tesvich divulges intentions to broaden his range of socks and envisages the potential for his product to revolutionise the apparel sector. He also acknowledges the hurdles associated with being a youthful business proprietor but remains appreciative of the opportunity to progress and acquire insight as he navigates the realm of entrepreneurship.
