Local Business Owner’s Generous Donation to Veteran’s Organization

2 min read

Chauncy Hanke, the proprietor of Chauncy’s Automotive in Amarillo, has made a generous contribution to the local organisation Hope Lives Here. This non-profit organisation provides service dogs for Veterans who are grappling with various traumas, such as post-traumatic stress, military sexual trauma, brain injuries, or chronic pain disorders. The dogs are specially trained to aid these Veterans in leading a more fulfilling life.

Service dogs can be quite expensive, with costs ranging from £15,000 to £75,000, and are typically paid for out-of-pocket. However, Hope Lives Here rescues shelter dogs and trains them to become service dogs, making them more accessible to Veterans in need. In addition, the veterans receiving these service dogs are trained alongside the animals, fostering a strong and special bond between them.

The organisation relies on grants and public donations to finance its operations. The more donations they receive, the more assistance they can provide to the public, particularly to our local Veterans. Chauncy Hanke recognised the importance of the organisation’s work and generously donated a van to help them carry out their mission.

This isn’t the first time that Chauncy’s Automotive and the Hanke family have reached out to help those in need. They have previously donated multiple vehicles to families who required reliable transportation for medical appointments.

If you are aware of a Veteran in need of a service dog, information on how to enroll can be found on the Hope Lives Here website. As a gesture of gratitude to Amarillo businesses that contribute to our community, Chauncy’s Automotive deserves recognition for their selfless contribution.

Chauncy’s Automotive is located at 2001 Paramount Blvd. If you are interested in exploring what else Amarillo has to offer, take a photo tour of Historic Route 66 or take a leisurely stroll down Polk Street in Downtown Amarillo to admire the exquisite art.
