In honor of the International Women’s Day, Kadin Indonesia, in collaboration with Müstakil Sanayici ve Isadamlari Dernegi (MUSIAD) Indonesia, hosted the “Cup of Change: Women Empowering Progress” event on March 8. This event, organized by Kadin’s women’s empowerment division, aimed to empower female entrepreneurs, promote inclusivity in the national economy, and strengthen the ties between Indonesia and Turkey.

With an attendance of over 100 participants, the event featured discussions on various aspects of women’s empowerment, including entrepreneurial skills, leadership, and self-development. Carmelita Hartoto, the deputy general chair coordinator for human quality improvement, research, and technology and innovation at Kadin Indonesia, highlighted the significant role played by female entrepreneurs in the national economic development. Around 64 percent of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia are owned by women, and the MSME sector contributed 60.5 percent of the national gross domestic product (GDP) in 2023.

The primary goal of the event, according to Carmelita, was to enhance women’s leadership in entrepreneurship, facilitate networking opportunities, and encourage female entrepreneurs to share their personal successes, thereby inspiring and motivating other women to realize their potential and contribute to the advancement of women in society.

Nihal Yazici Aygun, chair of MUSIAD Women Indonesia, expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts between Indonesia and Turkey, particularly in knowledge sharing and market opportunities for women entrepreneurs. She expressed hope for future events that would strengthen relationships and support female entrepreneurs.

Tri Hanurita, deputy general chair for women’s empowerment at Kadin Indonesia, emphasized the importance of women entrepreneurs in Indonesia maintaining solidarity to expand their market potential. She encouraged Indonesian women entrepreneurs to confidently connect with their counterparts in Turkey to broaden their market reach.

In conclusion, the joint efforts of Kadin Indonesia and MUSIAD Indonesia have laid the groundwork for empowering and advocating for female entrepreneurs in Indonesia. As the international community observes a day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, events like “Cup of Change: Women Empowering Progress” serve as platforms for discussion, networking, and inspiration for women in business.

This event serves as a reminder of the essential role played by female entrepreneurs in driving economic growth and cultivating a more inclusive and diverse business landscape. As we continue to celebrate the achievements of women, it is imperative to recognize and support the invaluable contributions of female entrepreneurs in building vibrant and resilient economies.
