The First Undergraduate Program Begins at Cambodia-China University

The Cambodia-China University of Technology and Science, also known as CamTech, has officially launched its inaugural undergraduate program, marking a significant milestone for the institution. Following its establishment in December, the university, situated in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, has initiated the program.

A total of 160 students have enrolled in the bachelor’s degree studies, with an additional 420 individuals undergoing specialized training in collaboration with various enterprises. It was revealed that all students will undergo Chinese language courses and pursue majors in their respective fields as part of the curriculum.

Touch Visalsok, the secretary of state at the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in Cambodia, expressed the university’s importance in nurturing technical talents essential for the country’s socioeconomic progress. He emphasized the significance of maintaining high-quality education to equip Cambodian students with the skills needed for the advancement of various industries including transportation infrastructure, energy, and tourism.

Visalsok also highlighted the university’s role in strengthening the bond of friendship and cultural ties between Cambodia and China, especially as 2024 has been noted as the Cambodia-China people-to-people exchange year. He expressed confidence in the university’s contribution towards building a high-quality, high-level, and high-standard China-Cambodia community with a shared future.

Established through a collaboration between the Federation of Khmer Chinese in Cambodia and the Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology, the Cambodia-China University of Technology and Science aims to offer students a comprehensive education in specialized fields. Teng Lay, the Cambodian representative of the Board of Directors, affirmed the university’s commitment to providing students with six majors, including new energy power generation engineering technology, automobile service engineering technology, network engineering technology, e-commerce, modern logistics management, and tourism management.

Moreover, the university aims to cultivate high-quality technical talents to become key contributors to Cambodia’s socioeconomic development and will offer students a dual degree recognized by both Cambodia and China upon completion of their studies.

Situated in the Chroy Changvar Satellite City, the campus boasts a main university building, state-of-the-art facilities, an experimental lab, a garden, and a canteen, providing students with a conducive environment for learning and growth.

With the commencement of its undergraduate program, the Cambodia-China University of Technology and Science is poised to make a significant impact on the education landscape and the development of skilled professionals necessary for the continued growth of Cambodia.
