Lauren Hart was thrilled when she was awarded the title of Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the Heart of Ulverston Awards. This recognition served as validation for her decision to establish her own professional florist business, Bluebell and Ivy, in 2016 at the age of 25. Initially, she had reservations about taking such a significant risk, but receiving acclaim at the Heart of Ulverston Awards in 2018 provided the confidence boost she needed, and her business has been thriving ever since.
Reflecting on her experience, Lauren stated, “I was surprised to even be nominated, let alone win. It was truly heartwarming to know that someone recognized the exceptional service I was providing in the town. Being a finalist for the Young Entrepreneur category alongside other exemplary businesses and then emerging as the winner was a gratifying experience, particularly because it’s a local acknowledgment of one’s contributions to the community.”
Commencing her business in a small location with only herself, Lauren often questioned the soundness of her decision and whether her business could expand. However, the award transformed her outlook, and Bluebell and Ivy has since made substantial advancements. In 2018, the business relocated to a larger premises on Queen Street, and she now employs four staff members. According to Lauren, winning the award contributed to raising the business’s profile as attendees at the ceremony expressed a desire to visit her shop.
Lauren is actively participating in this year’s Heart of Ulverston Awards by sponsoring the Best Hospitality Venue category and providing decorations and floral centrepieces for the event. She expressed, “Having experienced the feeling of winning, I am delighted to be involved in this year’s Heart of Ulverston Awards and to play a role in enabling someone else to experience that incredible sensation.” She further added, “Ulverston is sometimes overlooked, but it is a fantastic little town with a distinctive, quirky style, and I am thrilled that the awards are returning so we can celebrate everything that makes it such an extraordinary place.”
The upcoming awards night will encompass 13 categories, including Business of the Year, which is being sponsored by Rachael Bell Wealth Management. The Practice Principal of Rachael Bell Wealth Management, Rachael Bell, remarked, “Business is truly thriving across Cumbria, and it is wonderful to support the remarkable companies that have a significantly positive impact on Ulverston and beyond.”
