The Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business Entrepreneurship Center recently organized an educational trip to New York City during the spring break. The purpose of the excursion was to afford students the opportunity to learn from accomplished entrepreneurs and business leaders, acquire valuable insights, and immerse themselves in the dynamics of the business world in one of the most bustling cities globally. The aim of the trip was to equip students with practical knowledge and networking opportunities that would prove invaluable for their future careers.

Throughout the trip, students had the privilege of engaging with prominent personalities and business leaders across various settings, providing them with an exclusive behind-the-scenes perspective on the world of commerce. The experiences garnered from these interactions are anticipated to have a significant impact on the students’ future prospects in the business realm.

Senior business management and marketing student, Hayley Steggell, conveyed her enthusiasm about the trip, expressing her fondness for every aspect of the experience. She particularly relished visiting various locales, meeting new acquaintances, sampling diverse cuisines, and navigating the city’s subway system. Her positive feedback underscores the enriching and delightful nature of the trip.

The itinerary for the trip encompassed engaging activities, including a visit to the Rockefeller Center, where students had the opportunity to meet David Chen at The Harvard Club, a significant historical and cultural monument. Furthermore, the group had the privilege of dining with Marcia Nelson, the managing director at Freedom Capital Markets, and meeting Morad Fareed, a former professional footballer and co-founder of the global wellness company, Delos. These interactions afforded students valuable insights and real-world perspectives from established individuals in the entrepreneurship and business landscape.

The trip also featured a visit to the New York Stock Exchange, allowing students to observe and immerse themselves in the daily operations of an entrepreneur. Such experiences are pivotal in broadening students’ horizons regarding the myriad of opportunities awaiting them upon the completion of their education, while also affording them an authentic New York City experience.
