2 min read

Qatar Charity (QC) recently hosted the ‘Khair Homes’ exhibition in collaboration with Katara – Cultural Village, to showcase a diverse array of family-produced goods over a period of two days. The primary objective was to strengthen familial bonds, promote the ethos of entrepreneurship and sustainability, and afford families the opportunity to share their experiences with the wider society and market their products.

The exhibition included booths showcasing a wide range of products, such as clothing, food, paintings, ceramics, and incense. In addition to this, attendees were able to participate in engaging artistic workshops. Abdul Rahman al-Hajri, Director of Programmes and Community Development at QC, stated that the initiative aims to encourage families to support humanitarian efforts, bolster social cohesion, and enhance their entrepreneurial skills, thereby linking them to humanitarian initiatives.

Khaled Abdel Rahim al-Sayed, Director of Events and Cultural Affairs at Katara, underscored the significance of hosting the exhibition as part of Katara’s social responsibility to promote charitable and humanitarian work, particularly during Ramadan. He expressed the organization’s dedication to hosting events, programmes, and activities that support charitable and volunteer work.

The families participating in the event expressed their satisfaction with the programme and the exhibition. Wadha al-Nabit praised the concept of the exhibition, emphasizing the broader exposure it provided for marketing their products. Umm Fahd al-Hajri shared that the programme had a motivating effect on family members, especially children, instilling in them the value of contribution. This marked her debut as an active participant, and she expressed her eagerness to participate in future editions.

A key component of the programme’s activities involved organizing ‘family evenings’ for participating families, during which QC presented various workshops and activities catering to all age groups. These workshops aimed to inspire families and their guests to explore the realm of entrepreneurship, motivating them to utilize household tools and recycle them effectively to maximize time and develop skills.

The ‘Khair Homes’ exhibition serves as a vital platform for promoting family entrepreneurship and sustainability, as well as for strengthening social solidarity and fostering the culture of giving and volunteerism. Through initiatives such as this, these organizations are paving the way for a more empowered and self-sufficient community, driven by compassion and creativity.
