The Covid-19 booster vaccination centre, previously located at Wrexham University campus, has been relocated to the new premises at the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s Plas Gororau building on Wrexham Technology Park. This decision follows the success of the vaccination campaign at the Catrin Finch Centre, where a total of 193,176 Covid-19 vaccines and booster vaccines were administered. As of Monday, the new facility will serve as the primary location for Covid-19 booster vaccinations in Wrexham.
Carol Shillabeer, Chief Executive of Betsi Cadwaladr, acknowledged the significant support received from partners such as Wrexham University in carrying out the vaccination programme in North Wales. The successful campaign has contributed to a reduction in severe illness, hospital admissions, and has safeguarded the people of North Wales and the NHS services during the pandemic.
Professor Maria Hinfelaar, Vice-Chancellor at Wrexham University, expressed pride in the university’s role in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic within the wider community. The university also operated as a mass vaccination centre for North Denbighshire and the surrounding area at the OpTIC Technology Centre in St Asaph, where 87,526 vaccines were administered.
Appointments for the Spring booster vaccines will commence next week (April 15) and will be accessible throughout May and June for eligible groups.
