The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Institute has officially announced that the highly-anticipated 18th edition of the IsDB Global Forum on Islamic Finance is set to take place in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on 28th April 2024. This event will coincide with the IsDB Group Annual Meetings and Golden Jubilee Celebration, making it an integral part of the organization’s annual calendar.

As a pivotal platform for thought leaders, policymakers, and financial experts in the Islamic finance industry, this year’s Forum aims to delve into the theme of “Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership in Islamic Finance”. It will feature keynote speeches by distinguished personalities such as H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the IsDB Group, H.E. Dr. Stephen Groff, Governor of the Saudi National Development Fund, and Engineer Mutlaq H. Al-Morished, CEO of the Tasnee Corporation.

One of the highlights of the Forum will be the presentation of the 2024 IsDB Prize for Impactful Achievement in Islamic Economics. Professor Mehmet Asutay of Durham University will be the honoured recipient, in recognition of his substantial contributions to the field of Islamic economics and finance.

The event will also include two insightful sessions. The first session will focus on the pivotal role of entrepreneurship in advancing sustainable development within the Islamic finance paradigm, with notable panelists such as Mr. Mohammad Abdulhameed Al-Mubarak, CEO of Madinah Knowledge Economic City, and Dr. Zeger Degraeve, Executive Dean of Prince Mohammed Bin Salman College. The second session will showcase the Smart Stabilization System, an innovative algorithm developed by the IsDB Institute to enhance stability in financial markets, in collaboration with blockchain company SettleMint.

Additionally, the Forum will witness the launch of a new IsDBI report titled “Catalyzing Social Entrepreneurship through Islamic Finance”. This report is designed to explore the potential of Islamic finance in supporting social entrepreneurship and impact investing, further contributing to sustainable economic development.

Since its inception in 2006, the IsDB Global Forum on Islamic Finance has served as a premier platform for strategic policy dialogue on knowledge and innovation in Islamic finance and development, and the 18th edition promises to be no exception.
