The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) in Mumbai has announced the commencement of a new two-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) course in Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Venture Development (IEV) starting in the academic year 2024-25. This programme is open to engineering and technology graduates who have successfully passed the Maharashtra MBA/MMS common entrance test (CET).

This marks ICT’s first foray into offering a degree course outside of the realm of engineering. Professor Aniruddha Pandit, Vice-Chancellor of ICT, expressed the institution’s commitment to delivering a unique educational experience that enables students to cultivate their entrepreneurial skills. In addition to traditional classroom learning, the course will feature a 3-month immersion programme following the first two semesters, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in rural areas and other locations to harness their innovative potential and identify opportunities for entrepreneurship.

The IEV programme has obtained accreditation from the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the inaugural batch will consist of 18 students in adherence to regulatory guidelines. The academic faculty who will be spearheading this initiative includes members from ICT, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), as well as the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). Furthermore, in order to provide students with valuable insights, ICT aims to engage successful entrepreneurial alumni as guest faculty.

This new offering from ICT is a significant step towards nurturing a new generation of business leaders and innovators with a strong foundation in entrepreneurial principles and practical experience. Engineering and technology graduates now have the exciting opportunity to enrol in this ground-breaking MBA programme and acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the dynamic landscape of innovation and business development.
