Trusted suppliers for the Hunter Class Frigate Program, including MyModular, Century Engineering, MG Engineering, Novafast International, Axiom, and CBG Systems from Hobart, have come together in the ‘Connected Supplier’ project to improve their digital literacy and harness technology for enhanced business performance.
As part of this project, these SMEs have actively participated in workshops, site visits, defence and cyber security briefings, and have received personalized support from subject-matter experts. The focus has been on the continued automation of traditional manufacturing and industrial practices by leveraging smart technology, also known as Industry 4.0.
The ‘Connected Supplier’ project has been led by the research agency DMTC as part of the Factory of the Future Manufacturing Growth Accelerator, made possible through a $4 million grant from the South Australian Government. As a result, the participating companies have utilized data from the National Electricity Market to gain insights into reducing emissions and adopting energy-efficient approaches in their operations.
