Exciting Plans for New Food & Drink Venue in Sheffield City Centre

A proposal has been submitted for the construction of a new and exciting food, drink, and entertainment venue in the heart of Sheffield. The proposed establishment, known as Thor’s Tipi, is envisioned to occupy a vacant plot on Pinstone Street, thus presenting a vibrant new addition to the city’s landscape.

This plot, formerly the site of the Mid City House office block, has since been cleared subsequent to the building’s demolition earlier this year. The planning application for Thor’s Tipi has been put forth by Fabler & Co. Ltd, with the intention of bringing a distinctive and unique social experience to Sheffield.

This innovative venue would mirror the success of its predecessor, the existing Thor’s Tipi in the grounds of the Principal Hotel in York, making it the second of its kind in Yorkshire. The proposed location in Sheffield aims to provide a diverse range of attractions, including live music, delicious food and beverages, and a lively atmosphere for patrons to revel in. The establishment is projected to operate 364 days a year, from 11am to 11pm, with the exception of Christmas Day.

The design of the venue features a single-storey building with distinctive ‘scaffold board-style timber cladding’ and PVC roll-up windows. The unique tipi structure will be a prominent feature, providing an inviting and engaging space for visitors. Outdoor seating surrounding quaint planters and timber fencing will contribute to a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing environment.

Furthermore, Thor’s Tipi aims to host various events, such as open mic nights, a monthly street food market, and entertaining quizzes, all carefully planned in adherence to a comprehensive “noise management plan,” designed to minimize disturbances to surrounding businesses and residents.

Should the proposal be approved, the team at Fabler & Co. Ltd aspires to open the venue to the public by August or September 2024. In their planning application, they express their commitment to collaborating with the appropriate authorities to ensure the venue positively contributes to Sheffield City Centre. They aim to operate responsibly and bring innovation to the local high-street.

Exciting developments such as this potential addition to Sheffield’s city centre underscore the ongoing growth and evolution of the area. The proposed Thor’s Tipi promises to offer a unique and engaging social space for the community to enjoy. With careful planning and consideration for the impact on the surrounding area, this venue has the potential to become a valuable and beloved addition to Sheffield.
