Empowering Young Entrepreneurs with CGC100 Programme

The Credit Guarantee Corporation (M) Bhd (CGC) recently celebrated the graduation of thirty young entrepreneurs from its CGC100 Youth Entrepreneurship Programme – Comprehensive Track. This program, sponsored by the Education Ministry and Pintar Foundation, aims to provide essential skills and knowledge to young individuals from underserved communities who are interested in pursuing entrepreneurship.

During the graduation ceremony, CGC chairman, Datuk Mohammed Hussein, emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment for micro, small, and medium enterprises to thrive. He highlighted the need for entrepreneurs to adapt and respond to the ever-changing business landscape, particularly in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, CGC president and CEO Datuk Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak stressed that the CGC100 programme seeks to instill entrepreneurial values and equip participants with the necessary tools to excel in the dynamic world of entrepreneurship.

Participants at the event also shared their experiences and the impact of the program on their entrepreneurial ventures. Darlene Cheng Key Li, a 21-year-old entrepreneur running a food and beverage business in Kuala Lumpur, expressed her gratitude for the valuable insights gained from the program, particularly in the areas of financial management, marketing, and digital reliance.

Similarly, Nurul Ain Aqilah Hamzha, a 22-year-old entrepreneur from Johor, reported a significant increase in sales after implementing the knowledge acquired from the program into her business.

Another participant, Nickrayco Kundi @Jusly, 21, from Sabah, highlighted the importance of interpersonal skills, personal branding, and ESG (environmental, social, and governance) principles in improving business operations and growth.

In addition to the success of the Comprehensive Track, CGC also launched the second cohort of the CGC100 program – the Fast Track, which is a six-month intensive course tailored for individuals with minimal knowledge of entrepreneurship. The event saw the induction of twenty participants into this program, which kicked off with a session on “Core Values and Work Ethics” by CGC chairman Datuk Mohammed Hussein.

The ceremony was also attended by Fakhriyyah El-Emin Muhardi, chief assistant director of the ministry’s vocational technical education and training division, and Norzalina Masom, the general manager of Pintar Foundation.
