Aira Launches New Clean Energy Hub in Manchester

Swedish clean energy-tech company, Aira, has officially announced the opening of its new hub in Manchester, marking a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to create hundreds of highly skilled jobs in the North West. This move aligns with Aira’s ambitious goal of hiring 8,000 clean energy experts across the UK over the next decade.

Recent market research conducted by Aira has indicated a growing interest in clean energy solutions among residents in the North West. The study revealed that over one in three people in the region (39%) are likely to consider installing a heat pump in their homes when renovating or replacing their heating systems.

Furthermore, local authorities in the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) have set ambitious targets to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2038 and 2040, respectively. These targets closely align with Aira’s mission to accelerate the electrification of residential heating and move away from traditional gas heating systems.

The new hub, located in Trafford, will serve as Aira’s operational centre in the North West, under the leadership of Marc Clarke, who brings over 20 years of experience in the home heating sector. The existing team of Clean Energy Technicians at the hub has already installed thousands of heat pumps throughout their careers, and the expansion will create various new roles including planners, salespeople, designers, customer service agents, heat pump installers, apprenticeships, and positions in the local leadership team.

Marc Clarke, Aira’s head of region for the North West, expressed his enthusiasm for the opening of the new hub, stating, “The North-West region is rich with skilled workers, making it a natural fit for our hub location. We’re excited to help people across the region transition to low-carbon heat pumps, enabling them to save money on their heating costs while reducing CO2 emissions.”

Aira’s investment in the North West signifies a positive step towards advancing clean energy solutions in the UK. With a focus on job creation and sustainable technology, Aira’s new hub in Manchester is a testament to the growing opportunities in the clean energy sector.
