Exploring Birmingham’s Best Brunch Spot: A Visit to Perch Café

Perch Café had been on my radar for some time, and on a recent morning, I finally made my way to this charming establishment to discover what all the fuss was about. Situated in John Cadbury House, opposite the law courts on Corporation Street, Perch exudes an understated elegance that is quite inviting.

Upon entering, I was struck by the simple yet stylish decor, with muted colours dominating the atmosphere. The pastries at the counter caught my eye, each one resembling a delectable work of art. It is no surprise that Perch’s sister cafe, Early Bird Bakery, has become a favoured brunch spot for many in the city. The reputation certainly precedes it.

As I perused the menu, I deliberated over indulging in a passionfruit and coconut tart or selecting something more savoury from the hot food selection. In the end, I opted for the fajita spiced scrambled eggs and a miso caramel latte. With my order placed, I took a moment to observe the view of the Law Courts and the passersby through the window.

The quality of the food at Perch did not disappoint. My fajita scrambled eggs were expertly prepared, with the charred corn and smashed avocado adding a delightful twist to the dish. Served inside a perfectly baked croissant, every bite was a symphony of flavours and textures. As for the miso caramel latte, it was the perfect complement to my meal, warming me from the inside.

The relaxed atmosphere of the cafe stood out to me. Unlike its bustling sister location, Early Bird, Perch offered a tranquil dining experience, allowing me to savour my meal and take in the surroundings.

As I savoured every last bite, I couldn’t help but think about how much of a hidden gem Perch is. While other nearby establishments may be more well-known, I highly recommend paying a visit to this charming cafe for a brunch experience that is truly bostin’ (or fantastic, for those not familiar with the local lingo).

Overall, my visit to Perch Café left me thoroughly impressed. From the quality of the food to the inviting ambiance, it’s safe to say that this spot has secured a place on my list of go-to brunch places in Birmingham. So, the next time you find yourself in the vicinity, do yourself a favour and visit Perch for a truly delightful dining experience.
