The Newport Beach Film Festival is thrilled to announce its inaugural Automotive Short Film Competition, in partnership with automotive media icon Ant Anstead. This collaboration aims to elevate the competition to new heights, with a theme of “For The Love of Driving.”

Gregg Schwenk, CEO and Executive Director of NBFF, has expressed immense enthusiasm about the collaboration with Ant Anstead, citing his profound knowledge and passion for the automotive world as a significant asset to the festival.

Filmmakers are challenged to produce and submit short films that encapsulate the theme “For The Love of Driving,” providing a platform to showcase their storytelling prowess. The competition welcomes a range of film formats, including documentaries, scripted narratives, and those shot on smartphones. Films must be between one and six minutes in duration, and all content, including music, must be royalty-free. Previously shared content is also accepted.

Selected films may have the opportunity to be featured on television and online, offering a substantial platform for filmmakers to display their work. Furthermore, the top ten finalists will have their films showcased at the Festival on October 18, 2024, followed by a Q&A session with each creator and a panel discussion featuring esteemed judges such as Sung Kang (Fast & Furious franchise), actress Emelia Hartford (Gran Turismo), and filmmaker Dan Mace (Chief Creative Officer for Beast Philanthropy).

Submissions for the competition are open until July 14, 2024, with a reduced entry fee of £25.00 for this category. For additional details and film submissions, filmmakers are encouraged to visit the NBFF website. This presents an exceptional opportunity for filmmakers to showcase their skills and passion for the automotive world.
